Pastoral Council
The Pastoral Council is a group of parish members that serves as a consultative body to the pastor. It brings together the visions, hopes and needs of the congregation and translates them into parish planning. The Pastoral Council also serves as a bridge between the many groups and committees that operate within our parishes.
Bereavement Ministry
The Bereavement Ministry is an organized response to the needs of people who are grieving the death of a significant loved one. The purpose of the ministry is to respond as a parish to the needs of a grieving family at the time of death and the time after. Bereavement Ministry members visit and have a prayer service at the funeral home. The Rosary is recited in Church before the Mass of Christian Burial and members attend the Mass. Talents Needed: time and a warm heart and a listening ear.
If you would like to join us in the Ministry, please call the Church office.
Food Bank
The food bank is administered by The Catholic Community Food Bank of Troy Hill and assists families in need in our community on a once-a-month basis. Call 412-231-2994, extension 9 for more information about making a donation.
Christian Mothers
St. Aloysius Christian Mothers/Women’s Guild actively supports the spiritual, financial and social life of the Parish. Examples of this are maintenance and enhancements to the parish buildings and liturgies, including donations to Parish Share, Ladies of Charity for the Mass of Anointing, Food Bank, the religious education of youth, a new Advent wreath and flowers for the Blessed Mother. CMWG sponsors the St. Nicholas party, the train display, the ice cream social, and other fund raisers that allow us to support these ministries, activities, and events.
Our members serve in many other volunteer capacities including lectors, Extraordinary Ministers, and rummage house workers. Finally, we offer an opportunity for socialization and camaraderie at our monthly meetings and occasional parties.
If you would like to join us, please call Suzy Johns 412-821-2404
Ladies of Charity Our Ladies of Charity visit the elderly, the sick and shut-ins, send get well cards, and coordinate the annual Anointing Mass. We deliver gifts to our shut-ins around the holidays such as mums for Thanksgiving, small fruit baskets in the spring, a potted summer flower, a sleigh at Christmas, and other crafts we assemble. We are also a part of the Senior Outreach program started by Pastoral Associate, Mary Swindal. We sponsor various drives for the needy and homeless. We’ve done sock drives during Lent, diaper drives, a blood drive, backpack drives for Food Bank families and also for Providence Connections on the North Side, Baby Bottle campaign, coats and clothes for the homeless and snacks for Catholic Charities Warming Center located downtown. In 2016 we won grant money from National Ladies of Charity and used the money to conduct a cooking demo/class with food bank recipients to show them how to make a complete meal from their food bank items. We visit personal care homes and conducted an Oktoberfest celebration at St. Mary’s Court Yard with a sing-along and brought snacks for the residents. Our ladies accompany St. Vincent DePaul men on their home visits
