  • Blessing of Animals at Holy Spirit
The Annual Blessing of Animals will take place on Saturday, October 5th at NOON in front of Holy Spirit Church. The tradition, held at many churches, comes from St. Francis of Assisi (whose feast is October 4th). St. Francis realized that animals are an integral part of God’s plan and creation. This blessing is primarily for domestic animals. Dog and cats should be on leashes. Birds, rabbits and hamsters in cages. Perhaps you might want to discern whether your pet would be “comfortable” with other animals. Borough ordinances regarding disposal of animal waste will apply! As always, voluntary collection of pet food items will be welcomed and distributed to animal shelters and to our senior citizens for their personal pets.
